Soooo Nordstroms bought out one of their makeup lines called "e.l.f", which means they now have to change all the labels....this means good news for us, they are selling all of their products for super cheap, I'm talking like $1!!! On top of that its a flat shipping fee...a total steal, and they have everything you could possibly want...great to stock up your collection or for christmas gifts...anywho, just wanted to share the knowledge.

Had my first meltdown last night, involving [Query] and Dr. Sketchy.

Odd experience to be aware that I was being irrational while I was gearing up to
explode in a fit of tears. I felt really bad for Shawn, in retrospect, he was trying to help..

But, really, the LAST thing on my mind - is me. My costume, my persona, my
chance of getting my name out in the Portland universe. -psh-
It was incredibly difficult to get him to understand that, I didn't care.
Because, I don't. I don't want recognition - I just want everyone involved
to leave having a positive experience.

My priority are my performers - making sure they have all the information
they need to walk into the event feeling confident and excited to be there.

-ack- This has been a major mental game, building something from nothing.
Having not an ounce of experience about putting on a show of this size.

Roughly - give or take - that's 10 people, that for the past month and some;
I've filled their in boxes with updates.

AGHHH! I really hope people show up.

The last thing I want is for this event to feel like it was put on by an
amateur - yeah, yeah, I am an amateur - but I have a really strong vision.

There's still a lot of work to be done - and sitting in front of my computer
stressing.. isn't going to get me anywhere.

Yup, I was a Cookieface for Halloween - didn't do much though,
but work and.. okay..
so maybe I did end up at Lucky Devil.. and I did end up at my
local watering hole.. but...
-meh- Halloween was so so so so much more fun when I was a little kid.

Dr. Sketchy's during Last Thursday went great!

It's neat.

During last month's Last Thursday, I set up a renegade modeling stage on the street
and the response was super amazing.

I'm doing it again.

So, if any of you are out doing your thing - then stop by the stage and
say "Hello."

I'm really not complaining - but a break would be fantastic! - But, there is no break in sight.

Things are going strong in Dr. Sketchyland.

Making it out to Last Thursday was a great idea - who knew that setting up a stage and providing
a model, would actually get people to sit and draw.

I did 5 turns of the 3 chairs I provided - ended up with 15 unique drawings of the model, and
a couple of myself... a ton of flashing camera lights.

The excitement is building - and those in the industry are impressed with my decision-making skills.
To the point, where people don't believe me that this is my first event.
I don't know where it comes from, I just, follow the feeling - and keep going back to
what I've seen around town, and reflect on  what I would have done differently...

Anywho - In the end, I have an event booked for Nov 6th:

Hello Kitties,

I've recently become the art director for Dr. Sketchy's Portland,
which will open opportunities for models, photographers,
makeup artists, and wardrobe stylists to add something
a little glittery to their portfolios/resumes.

Dr. Sketchy's has been around since 2005 - based out
of New York by one Molly Crabapple

Who opted to bring a little cabaret to the silence
of your typical life drawing class.
There are over 50 Dr. Sketchy's within the USA,
and several have popped up overseas, making
Dr. Sketchy a well known name in the art world.

Visions for Dr. Sketchy's PDX are rather large.
Gearing up for our Launch Party come October 2008,
presently seeking artists from all walks of life,
that feel that they would like to contribute to such
an event.

Showcase of work will include but not limited to,
a quarterly art show - credit whenever credit is due -
mention during Sketchy events - and the possibility
of publication through print and web

Monetary compensation at this moment is minimal;
but can be arranged.. or at least attempted.
Though, I am not looking to get everything for free,
those interested in donating their time and talent
in these beginning stages will gain priority as
opportunities arise.
